Discover My Approach to Stewardship
The Hands Behind Co-Created Spaces
Greetings, my name is Alexis, though many know me as Habeebah. You can call me Farmer Habeebah. My path as a land steward began in 2020, during the pandemic, when I became increasingly frustrated with the flaws of our agricultural system. Having studied Environmental and Sustainability Studies, I already knew how unsustainable most farming practices were. I understood that health is wealth, and yet the food around us was often stripped of vitality — full of preservatives, artificial flavorings, and genetic modification.
I wanted more control over what was entering my body, my vessel, and so I began with a porch garden, building two raised beds and filling them with a variety of plants. When my cucumbers refused to flower and fruit, I discovered something fundamental: food also needs food. That realization sent me deeper into gardening, and soon I was searching for community gardens and local farms where I could volunteer.
I didn’t know it then, but that step into the soil was also a step into community. I arrived as a volunteer and left with a job, divinely guided from my original plans in urban planning to this living path of land stewardship. Since then, I’ve worked in community gardens feeding apartment complexes, alongside farmers building infrastructure, and as an educator guiding children and teaching in the outdoors. Every role deepened my love for this work and reminded me of the power we hold when we grow together.

My Philosophy
Through these experiences, I came to understand co-creation. If we don’t like the reality we see before us, we can shape a new one — because we are co-creators. For me, stewardship is not just about tending the land, but about being in harmony with it, reversing the chaos that has weighed on nature for too long, and restoring balance. Stewardship also extends inward. To care for the Earth, I must also care for myself, because she is an extension of me, and I am an extension of her.
Co-Created Spaces was born from this understanding. It is not only a name but a practice — the building of spaces rooted in nourishment and healing. Spaces that honor the land that feeds us, the land that gives us everything we need. Every mineral, every material, every bite we eat — she provides it all. To step into true balance with her, we must also provide in return: our love, our respect, and our reverence. This reciprocity shows up in how we steward, in the choices we make, and in the practices we commit to.
This philosophy became the foundation of Co-Created Spaces: the belief that we are not separate from the Earth, but active participants in shaping our shared reality. Sustainability, for me, is not a buzzword — it is a practice of reciprocity, respect, and reverence. It is about feeding the soil as it feeds us, and remembering that healing the Earth and healing ourselves are one and the same.
Co-Created Spaces is not just my journey — it is an invitation. An invitation to remember our role as co-creators with the Earth. An invitation to practice stewardship in ways big and small. And most of all, an invitation to walk this path together, because we do not grow in isolation. We grow in community.
